I had this trouble quite a bit myself. Seemed to happen with netgear AP’s more than now. My issue was solved by changing the security on the AP.

Just stumbled upon this thread tonight from the Googlesphere.

Add me to the list of Mac users who sorely hates not having TextPad native on OS X. I’ve run it via Crossover on my Mac for a long time, but who wants that overhead? Not me.

For instance, call me crazy, I really don’t want to write extra code in Perl or JQuery to generate a sequence number in a replacement string like I can do in TextPad with TWO (2) characters. \i

Beat THAT.

While, yes Aquamacs is amazing and powerful.. it’s powerfully stupid when it comes to this task (and many others) when you just want to do something SIMPLE and QUICK.

I see your Aquamacs and I raise you two characters- \i .

…and at most \i (N,M) if you want to change starting point and increments. It’s not like that’s ALL you can do, but THAT’S POWER to me. To be able to get a SIMPLE task done with minimal fuss… and if you need more options THEN break bad with the Perl, Lisp, jQuery, blah dah fricken’ blah.

P.S. I’ve purchased TextPad and use it fairly often on my Mac via Crossover, but I will DEFINITELY buy another copy for my Mac. It’s that great. Please join me in hasslin’ the developers to make this available for Mac.

Or if you are developer, make something as good or better for Mac and post your links here. I’ll buy it if it’s up to the task.

Thanks for all the postings here. I have used TextPad for about a decade … i.e. I LIVE in TextPad for HTML, CSS etc. I have stumbled along in TextWrangler on Mac but can never achieve the comfort level found almost instantly in TextPad. Laptops are cheap these days so I may actually get one just to run TextPad on Windoz, based on comments here. For everything else I can easily live in OS-X. For virus/zombie etc. reasons I prefer to keep the Mac, Windoz incapable. If any program ever belonged on the Mac it is TextPad

Try Aquamacs – its the Mac equivalent of TextPad in my opinion, based on emacs and its free (supported by donations)

Three years since this blog was posted, and still not one Mac editor that even comes close to TextPad …

I can only imagine Mac developers are *extremely* biased towards their pretty interface and never even checked out TextPad’s capabilities “because it’s a Windows program”.

Nice not hear I”m not alone. I started with Textpad in 1996, and miss it terribly when stuck on Linux with vi, or on my new Mac with … well, with nothing yet.
The beauty of Textpad, to my eye, is the simplicity, the lack of clutter and lack of irrelevant features. Simple search and find-next; lovely cursor moves, as you described above; simple syntax highlighting; great regexps; find and find-replace across files is better than any, the hyperlinking being invaluable, as is the ability to set an external tool (like Perl) to any keystroke, capture the output, and hyperlink it to the source code.
I am told the J-Edit is the way to go, a Java-based program. Not tried it since Java was too slow to make it runnable, but maybe worth a look…

Until recently I had perfect internet (wi fi), but then "local only problem" appeared. Still can't manage to solve it. Interesting thing is I can access to internet everywhere but not at home. I live with 3 more people ( we are students ), all of them can connect to that internet but not me. Don't know what to do. I have windows 7. Reinstalled it twice, tried to fix that problem by using above mentioned ways of solution but unsuccessfully.

How come that i can connect everywhere but not at home? But my roommates can connect at home. Are they cheaters blocked my IP somehow? Damn it!

Little help here please.
